Transitions and Animations

Transitions - Changes Between Slides

Select a slide → Transitions tab → pick a transition (Fade, Push, Morph...).

• Effect Options - direction: from left, bottom, etc.
• Duration - keep 0.5-1 second; fast is professional.
• Advance Slide - After: 00:05 for auto-advancing kiosk shows.
• Apply To All sets the same transition everywhere.

Animations - Movement Inside a Slide

Select an object → Animations tab: Entrance, Emphasis, Exit, Motion Paths.

• Open the Animation Pane (Animations → Animation Pane) to see and reorder the timeline.
• Set Start: On Click, With Previous, or After Previous.
• Duration and Delay control pacing.
• Click the arrow → Effect Options → Timing for fine control.

Animate Parts of a List

Select a bulleted body → Animation → By Paragraph (in Effect Options) so bullets appear one at a time - the classic slide-by-slide storytelling technique.

Morph - the Smooth Transition

Duplicate a slide, move/resize an object, then set the Morph transition on the duplicate. PowerPoint animates the change smoothly - brilliant for zooming into a chart or stepping through a diagram.

The Golden Rules

• Animations should explain, not decorate - irrelevant motion distracts.
• Default to On Click so you control the timing.
• Fewer, purposeful effects define a professional deck.
