Adding Audio
Insert → Audio → Audio on My PC. Tune on the Playback tab: Start (Automatically/On Click), Loop until Stopped, and note the volume icon needs visible controls on the slide.
Adding Video
Insert → Video → This Device (file) or Online Video (YouTube/OneDrive link). Video plays within the slide during the show.
Controlling Playback
- Start - Automatically, On Click, or In Click Sequence.
- Full Screen - plays the video filling the screen; bookmarks Mark In/Out.
- Trim Video and Fade In/Out (Playback → Trim Video / Fade Duration).
- Poster Frame - choose a still frame shown before play.
Embedded vs Linked Video
- Embedded files travel inside the .pptx but grow the file size quickly.
- Linked files keep the deck small but the video must be sent alongside.
- Online videos need an internet connection during the presentation.
Multimedia Health Check
- Test the video on the actual projector machine beforehand - codecs differ.
- Keep clips short; 30-90 seconds engages, minutes puts the room to sleep.
- Add captions/alt text to video for accessibility needs.
Key Points
- Videos and audio are inserted, tuned and trimmed from the Playback tab.
- Match Start timing to how you deliver (click vs auto).
- Test multimedia on the target machine - do not discover codecs at showtime.
