Layouts Are Templates for Slides
Each slide uses a layout - Title Slide, Title and Content, Two Content, Title Only, Blank...
Change a layout: Home → Layout, or right-click a slide → Layout. Content follows the layout; switching layouts reformats the slide to match.
Placeholders
- Placeholders are the dashed boxes for titles, text, pictures and charts.
- Click inside a placeholder to add content; delete a placeholder to free the space.
- Text called body in a placeholder automatically inherits bullets.
The Slide Master - Edit Everything at Once
View → Slide Master opens the master - the blueprint behind every slide:
- Change fonts, colors and the logo on the master slide and every slide updates.
- Edit a layout under the master for targeted changes.
- Return with Close Master View on the ribbon.
Themes and Variants
Design tab: Themes change fonts/colors/effects everywhere; Variants are color tweaks of the current theme. Add your fonts/colors at the master so the theme stays consistent.
Key Points
- Manipulate layouts, not slides, when a design must change everywhere.
- The Slide Master is where brand logos and fonts belong.
- Themes + master = instant, consistent redesigns.
